Influencing the Influencers

The Christie Commission on the Future Delivery of Public Services calls for some major changes. It states categorically that our whole system of public services - public, third and private sectors - must become more efficient by reducing duplication and sharing services.

Services are expected to empower individuals and communities, provide a truly integrated service and focus on preventative measures which reduce inequalities.

Engagement across the sectors is no longer an option;
It is now ESSENTIAL.
Influencing the Influencers is a brand new programme designed specifically to support the third sector in its engagement with statutory organisations on the issues that matter.

Continuing the dynamic partnership between Voluntary Health Scotland and Brian Cavanagh, Scotland's leading expert on statutory sector engagement, this programme follows on from the hugely successful Invest to Engage series of seminars.

This programme is for you because you need to secure your funding and sustain your future and the only way to secure your funding and sustain your future is to:

• Understand how commissioning works from the inside
• Know who makes the decisions that matter to you
• Identify what your local Council and NHS really wants
• Be a true partner in 'partnership' working

This programme will walk you through the steps to:

• Demonstrate your critical value to funders

Starting the programme

Influencing the Influencers begins with a one day intensive workshop at the VHS offices in Edinburgh where an individual blueprint is developed to meet your organisational issues and your pressing concerns.

This blueprint will have a detailed engagement strategy setting out clear objectives for the following 90 days. It will identify the key people your organisation will target and the resources and approach needed to ensure its effectiveness.

Taking consistent action is critical and this programme gives you the follow up you need - During that crucial 90 days period you get three months of continued support - SIX one hour telephone coaching sessions with Brian and email access.

• You get up to date information and immediate feedback

• You find out the words to use and the actions to take

By the end of the programme you will have extended your influence, increased your impact and be fit for the future.
