7th February: Getting Down to BusinessMcDonald Rooms Conference Centre, Edinburgh

A one-day event for community food initiatives
interested in finding out more about social enterprise organised by Community Food and Health (Scotland).

Getting Down to Business will give participants an opportunity to find out more about social enterprise from the experts – community food initiatives running successfully as social enterprises and key agencies that provide support to aspiring and established social enterprises.

7th February: NHS QIS Stakeholder Event - Improving our Impact Apex Hotel, Dundee

NHS QIS are hosting a stakeholder forum at the Dundee Apex with their PFPI team.

The event is part of a series NHS QIS are holding to engage with key stakeholders and it aims to provide an opportunity to input into how the NHS QIS strategy is implemented / achieved.

8th February: Sunday Mail Young Scot Awards 2008: Nominations Glasgow City Halls

The Sunday Mail are now seeking nominations for the Young Scot Health Award 2008.

Standing up against bullying or campaigning on mental health issues? Supporting a friend or helping others to quit smoking? These are just some ways that young people are contributing to improving the health and wellbeing of the communities they live in.

So, if you know of a young person or group who fits the bill, then let the Sunday Mail know about your potential winner for the Health award!

19th February: National Dialogue EventPerth Concert Hall, Perth

This event will aim to bring together key representatives from local areas with key national stakeholders to highlight and draw together local and national perspectives on the discussion document, focusing on the main themes and the key questions posed in the document.

The event will also provide people with the opportunity to share their thoughts at a national level and help in the production of local responses to the discussion document.
23rd February: Village Halls Summit 2008 Aviemore Highland Resort, Aviemore

The Village Halls Summit 2008 is for everyone involved in managing or supporting rural Scotland's village halls and other community facilities.

Participants in the Summit will look at the challenges facing these vital community assets and map out a way forward to develop, maintain and sustain them for future generations.

The Keynote Speaker is Richard Lochhead, Cabinet Secretary for Rural Affairs and the Environment. The event is free and support is available for expenses for representatives of small community-based organisations.

29th February: Scottish Play Commission 'Highland Yak!'Royal Highland Hotel, Inverness

Key speakers include: Tim Gill, Play Consultant and Author and Arthur Battram, Trainer and Author. Following their presentations there will be an opportunity to ask both speakers questions.

Following on from lunch there will a Question Time Panel which will also give you a chance to ask play related questions.

Registration will commence at 10am and the event will commence at 10.30am closing at 2.45pm.

Cost is £10 for Play Scotland members and £15 for non members. This includes all materials, refreshments and lunch.

27th & 28th March: Behavioural nutrition and energy balance in the youngWest Park Conference Centre, Dundee

18th May: Resolution Asset Management Glasgow Women's 10k Glasgow

Last year, this event attracted almost 14,000 runners and a finish-line crowd of almost 30,000!

As such, it is one of the biggest events on Scotland’s running calendar and the atmosphere on the day is something to be part of.

25th May: Run the Edinburgh Marathon with The Meningitis Trust Edinburgh

Individual ballot for places is now closed but The Meningitis Trust have charity assured places available and would love to make this Edinburgh Marathon a fantastic experience for you.

There will no doubt be blood, sweat and some tears involved but you would also be helping to support the vital work of the Meningitis Trust.
