September 9 Youth and Tobacco ForumExploring DECIPHer-ASSIST (formally known as ASSIST, A Stop Smoking In Schools Trial), a smoking prevention intervention which aims to reduce adolescent smoking prevalence.

This meeting will begin at 13:30 with a break for refreshments at 14:45 and close at 16:30.

The afternoon session will provide delegates with an opportunity to find out about DECIPHer-ASSIST through a presentation and Q&A session followed by open discussion and debate on the opportunities and barriers to delivering this programme in Scotland.

September 9 Scottish Human Rights Commission Care about Rights Launch EventThe Scottish Human Rights Commission is pleased to invite you to the launch of the Care about Rights? awareness raising project. Care about Rights? is a comprehensive package of training and awareness raising materials which relates to the care and support of older people.

As well as receiving a copy of the materials there will be a brief panel discussion, the chance to see the short films produced for the training and time to discuss your involvement and interest in human rights and older people. Refreshments will be served and there will be the opportunity to network with colleagues and sector representatives.

September 15 Scottish Government / Long Term Conditions Alliance Scotland event to help identify the emotional and psychological support needs of people with long term conditionsPeople with long term conditions and the voluntary sector organisations that support them have advised The Long Term Conditions Alliance Scotland (LTCAS) that the emotional and psychological support needs of people with long term conditions are not well enough supported. LTCAS has been asked by the Scottish Government to take the lead in finding out what needs to change to help give better support to people.

This event will be an open space styled consultation to help LTCAS identify the emotional and psychological support needs of people with long term conditions.

September 21 10th World Alzheimer's Day lectureThis lecture is being organised by Alzheimer Scotland to mark World Alzheimer's Day, which falls on 21 September each year. This year the lecture will be preceded by the official launch of a new training and awareness raising DVD, 'Through our eyes: a life with dementia' produced by the Scottish Dementia Working Group for health and social care professionals.

The Annual Lecture this year will be given by Professor Emma Reynish, a consultant physician in Internal Medicine and Geriatrics at Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy, and Honorary Professor in Dementia Studies, University of Stirling. She returned to clinical medicine in Scotland in 2007 after working as a "practician hospitalier" in the Department of Geriatrics and Gerontology, University of Toulouse.
