February 22 Boxed in: A debate exploring issues of identity, self, community and belonging for disabled peopleA panel of experts will discuss a wide range of issues around disability; issues of definition, perception, belonging, image, multiple-identities and what these and other issues mean for individuals and communities. Come to the debate; question, listen, learn and share your thoughts and experiences.

The debate will bring people together to talk about issues of self-identification; culture; faith; community; what it means to identify as ‘disabled’ or to be legally defined as disabled but not necessarily identify as ‘disabled’; what does it mean to be part of a disabled people’s community such as the Independent Living Movement, how does it feel, is this something that is important, what difference does it make and to who; or indeed what does it mean not to be part of it, what are the barriers, does public perception affect our identity and what is the role of the media?
