| February 2 | Equality Outcome Setting Seminar | Can you help public services better support disabled people in your area? Come along to a seminar on Equality
Outcome Setting Every public body in Scotland – including councils, the NHS, education authorities police and fire service – will have new duties under the Equality Act. This includes working to set out equality outcomes. These equality outcomes will help public bodies focus on what needs to be done and how they will do it. Independent Living in Scotland (ILiS) is organising a series of seminars to explain exactly what Equality Outcome Setting (EOS) is and how disabled people and organisations can get involved. There will be presentations from the Equality and Human Rights Commission, Disabled People’s Organisations and Public Bodies. There will also be the chance to take part in workshops giving you the chance to discuss the opportunities and challenges around EOS for disabled people. | Perth | Independent Living in Scotland | More information |
| February 9 | The Adults with Incapacity Act: What you need to know for compliance | In Scotland the ‘Adults with Incapacity Act’ is designed to help safeguard the welfare and finances of people who lack
the capacity to look after themselves. For health and welfare professionals determining a person’s incapacity can
involve extensive consultation with a wide range of professionals including local authority social work departments,
the Office of the Public Guardian and the Mental Welfare Commission. With contributions from the Public Guardian, senior healthcare and legal practitioners and patient representatives, each interactive half-day training seminar aims to provide participants with an outline of guardianship and ‘Power of Attorney’ issues and a thorough understanding of when and how to apply the ‘Adults with Incapacity Act’. | Glasgow | Mackay Hannah | More information |
