| January - March: Working our way out of poverty - recent developments in the fight against poverty in Scotland A series of Scottish seminars organised by the Poverty Alliance. The Poverty Alliance is organising a series of free half day seminars across Scotland to look at the most recent developments in the fight against poverty, and to consider the opportunities for making a genuine route out of poverty for more people. January - February: Strengthening Scotland's Communities - Planning a Community Capacity Building Strategy This practitioner workshop is designed primarily for managers or senior staff in CLD or other sectors responsible for taking forward a capacity building strategy – either at authority-wide level in a community planning context, at organisational level for community / voluntary organisations, or at local level when planning a capacity building plan for a locality or interest area. 16th January - Aviemore 23rd January - Dunfermline 6th February - Paisley Booking form |
| Race, Religions & Culture - Training dates Dates throughout the year at locations across Scotland This unique seminar looks at the impact of race, faith and culture in organisations and focuses on the needs and issues facing various faith groups across Scotland. The seminar endeavours to provide an insight into the diverse ways of life; beliefs, practices and the issues that faith communities and those in contact with faith communities can expect to face and endeavour to overcome. Islam & Muslims - Training dates Dates throughout the year at locations across Scotland Promoting and exploring a better understanding of one of Britain's largest religious and most ethnically diverse community. This unique seminar is designed specifically for those who come into contact with Muslims regularly and need to understand their culture and way of life. The seminar endeavours to provide an insight into the Muslim way of life; their beliefs; their practices and the issues that Muslims and those in contact with Muslims can expect to face and endeavour to overcome. | February - March: Strengthening Scotland's Communities - Achieving Community ChangeThis practitioner / community organisation workshop will get to grips with the ways communities can best prepare their case for change, build alliances and support, develop strategies for change and sustain change. It is primarily for community organisations and practitioners working with them. February - March: Strengthening Scotland's Communities - Effective Community Organisations These practitioner / community organisation workshop will look at issues of leadership, learning, representation, influence, sustainability and impact. | February - March: Mental Health Improvement MessagesAcross Scotland NHS Health Scotland is holding a series of one day seminars to present the findings of recent research on the evidence base for key mental health improvement messages. This is an opportunity to look at the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence on what individuals can do to promote mental well-being and discuss the implications of these findings for practice. 10th June: Drugs and Alcohol Today ScotlandBraehead Arena, Glasgow Launched in 2006, Drugs and Alcohol Today Scotland has swiftly established itself as the largest, most comprehensive and accessible event in the Scottish substance misuse calendar. This national event opens its doors to some 1,500 people and aims to bring visitors together from across both sectors and regions to debate the latest issues. This one-day event, comprising a full and comprehensive seminar programme and a large exhibition, will provide a unique opportunity for professionals and managers involved in preventing and treating substance misuse, service users and those interested in joining the profession to come together to debate the big issues, share best practice and network.
