over the next three financial years with full abolition on 1 April 2011. The National Health Service (Charges for Drugs and Appliances) (Scotland) Regulations 2008 (SSI 2008/27) was laid before Parliament on 1 February 2008 and proposes a reduction in charges for prescriptions and prescription pre-payment certificates. These reductions represent the first phase in the proposed abolition of charges.
